Software update incomplete
- Error message
- Software update incomplete; the program did not update successfully...
- Description
- This issue typically occurs when the update is unable to successfully rename program files. For certain updates the renaming of program files is a required part of the update process.
- Common reason for this error
- The update process failed to rename one or all of the following program files - emlaunch.exe and unger.emcommon.dll.
- Troubleshooting tip
- To resolve this issue you need to complete the update process manually. To do this, follow these steps
- Exit the program and close any error messages related to the update.
- Open the folder location where the program is installed.
- In this folder, locate these files: emlaunch.exe and emlaunch.NEW
- If you find emlaunch.new, apply the following changes to your system:
- Right-click on emlaunch.exe and then in the pop-up menu select Delete to remove it from your system.
- Right-click on emlaunch.NEW and then in the pop-up menu select Rename and rename the file emlaunch.exe.
- If you find unger.emcommon.new, apply the same changes as above but to the unger.emcommon.dll and unger.emcommon.NEW files.
- After applying these changes, restart the program.
