Operation Not Applicable
- Problem
- After you launch the program, when you create a new client file or open existing client file, the error message Operation Not Applicable is shown.
- Known Cause and Solution
- In order to use Methuselah, version 6.0.6.163 of Midas.dll must be registered on your computer. This version of Midas.dll is included in your installation and in most cases the Methuselah installer automatically registers it on your system. In some cases your security permissions or other software installations can prevent or undo the registration of this file. When this occurs you might encounter error messages such as "Class not registered" or "Operation Not Applicable". The instructions below describe how to resolve this issue.
- Solution 1, run Reg.bat to register Midas.dll...
- Open the folder where Methuselah is installed. By default this is c:\program files\methuselah mvp.
- Find the file named Reg.bat.
- Double-click on this file to register Midas.dll.
- A DOS prompt is shown while the process is underway. When the process is finished the prompt will close.
- Launch Methuselah. If the problem still occurs, continue below.
- Solution 2, register Midas.dll manually...
- On the task bar, click Start then select Run. The Run prompt will open.
- Enter the following string then click OK. Keep in mind that the string includes the path to the location where midas.dll is located. If Methuselah is not installed in the default location then you need to enter the path to the location where it is installed.
regsvr32 "c:\program files\methuselah mvp\midas.dll"
- A confirmation should appear that reads as follows: DllRegisterServer in c:\program files\methuselah mvp\midas.dll succeeded. If this message did not appear then check the string and try again.
- Launch Methuselah. If the problem still occurs, continue below.
- Solution 3, copy Midas.dll to your windows\system32 folder and then register it there...
- Go to c:\windows\system32
- Find Midas.dll. If you do not find the file, go to c:\windows\system and look again.
- Right-click on the file and in the pop-up menu select Properties. In the Properties screen, click the Version tab and look up the File Version number. If the version number is not 6.0.6.163 then you need to rename the file "Midas.org". This is your backup copy in case you need to restore this version of Midas.dll.
- Now, goto c:\program files\methuselah mvp or the folder where Methuselah is installed if different.
- Find the file midas.dll.
- Right-click on this file, then in the pop-up menu choose "Copy"
- Now, return to c:\windows\system32, or to the folder where the original Midas.dll is located if different.
- Paste midas.dll into this folder.
- On the task bar, click Start, then select Run. The Run prompt will open.
- Enter the following string below, exactly as it appears, then click Ok
regsvr32 "c:\windows\system32\midas.dll"
- A confirmation should appear that reads as follows: DllRegisterServer in c:\windows\system32\midas.dll succeeded. If this message did not appear please try step #10 again.
- Launch Methuselah
